They Can't Vote – Voting Campaign
I was asked to design a non-partisan voting campaign consisting of a poster and sticker. Designing the sticker thoroughly first, how does that narrative translate to a tabloid size poster?
The message is clear: birds cannot vote, but you can; environmental policy can be polarizing in presidential elections. I photographed a semi-palmated sandpiper on a lakeshore in Pennsylvania and used it as the motif for this series with a combination of illustration, photography, and typography organically drawn into each piece. Pennsylvania is historically a critical swing state, so it made sense to include the Keystone State as the shape for this sticker for further persuasion to Pennsylvania voters.
The finished series received high praise from my classmates, remarking on the fully self-generated nature of the project and emotion that came through in the finished pieces. Environmental activism is central in my personal work, and it worked to my advantage coming through in this voting campaign.
